Whether you’re moving to Cave Creek, Paradise Valley or elsewhere in North Scottsdale, you’ll be glad to know that there are several nearby waterways where you can splash in the sun – and the best part is that they’re all within an hour’s drive from the center of Scottsdale.

The Salt River

Peaceful and tranquil… That’s how people describe the Lower Salt River, which is about 30 miles east of Scottsdale. Rafting, tubing and kayaking are extremely popular on the calm waters of the Lower Salt River, as are canoeing and fishing.

The Upper Salt River is a different story. That’s where you’ll get your adrenaline fix; it’s perfect for white water rafting on Class III and Class IV rapids, including the popular Maytag, Overboard and Mescal Falls
